Absolutely, we will ask if your business is seasonal during the application process.

What countries does SONA service?

SONA is currently able to service all businesses throughout North America.

What happens if my device needs to be replaced due to a technical issue?

You can submit a ticket into SONA’s helpdesk and we will assist in getting a replacement deployed to you. Or, if you prefer, you can reach out to the processor’s helpdesk and they will be able to help you as well.

If I have multiple devices in my location, will I be able to see all transactions in one place?

Yes! You will be able to see transactions in one place. Depending on the solution, you may be able to see them on the devices you have, through a cloud dashboard, or in SONA’s very own reporting tool.

Will someone offer to help me set up my device?

Absolutely! Our team is dedicated to making sure your setup is quick and simple.

How long will my device take to arrive?

Once your application has been signed and approved, you will typically receive your device within 2-5 business days.

What makes up Equipment Costs?

You can rent, lease or purchase your machines. If you lease the equipment, your lease is with an independent financing company, not SONA, and it is subject to their terms and, most often, a 48-month contract.

What makes up Monthly Account Fees?

The costs making up this fee vary, depending on your needs and the Card Processor providing your service. It pays for the services associated with managing your account, above and beyond the Processing Rate, such as data security, fraud protection, reporting tools, invoicing, and PCI compliance.

What is Processing Rate?

This is the percentage or fee that is charged for processing a credit or debit card transaction. The payment processor will set a processing rate to process Visa and/or Mastercard to cover the ‘Interchange Rate’ and make their profit margin.

What are Assessment Fees?

A Network Assessment Fee is the amount that card processors, like Fiserv and Elavon, are required to pay the card brands for each credit or debit card transaction processed by its merchants. Network Assessment Fees are set and regulated.

What is a POS System?

POS stands for ‘point of sale’, and is where you will ‘ring up’ your customers. A POS System is the Hardware and Software that enables your business to make sales. A POS System used to refer to a cash register, but these days are entirely computerized.

What is Interchange?

This is the percentage the Credit Card-issuing Banks and the Credit Card Associations (Visa, Mastercard, etc.) charge for each credit card transaction. They control the rates you are charged. These rates vary from card type to card type.
